NFC

Update:

We no longer manufacture items with NFC chips. Therefore, there are no more items on sale that contain an NFC chip (09/2023).

Is there an NFC Tag embedded in your underwear item?

We are testing NFC technology and have equipped some of our ALBERT KREUZ items with a tag containing an NFC chip. If you have an NFC-enabled smartphone, it can read the chip without any additonal apps. These are the advantages of the chip for our customers:

  • Care instructions for this specific item
  • Size information
  • Reorder easily with just a few clicks
  • Direct contact to us
  • Newsletter subscription

A lot of customers are contacting us because they want to reorder their favourite item but cannot remember the right size; others don't remember the material composition or care instructions because they have cut off the tag. NFC technology is a simple and convenient solution for the customer to get this information immediately.

If an NFC-enabled mobile phone is held close to the chip, exactly this information can be read out: model, item number, size, care and washing instructions. Thus, even after a long time, the right undershirt can be bought with just a few clicks and without the annoying search for item number and size in old invoices.

Currently only a small amount of items is equipped with NFC chips.

Does the chip cause radiation?

The chip does not contain a battery and does not radiate. An NFC chip operates as one part of a wireless link. Once its frequency is detected by another sender (i.e. an activated NFC-enabled smartphone), small amounts of data between the two devices can be transferred when held in close distance to each other and the information safed on the chip can be read.

Are you spying on me?

Many clothes manufacturers already use RFID to trace clothes from manufacturing through depots and into stores. The RFID chips embedded into clothing can also be used for stock taking and as an anti-theft device. These frequencies are different because they can be read over a greater distance. ALBERT KREUZ chips can only be read over a really short distance and cannot be read in stores etc. The chip is coded when the item is manufactured and does not include any connection to the order.

Are there any risks?

In case you are wearing a shirt with an NFC chip in a small room (i.e. an elevator) and there is somebody with an activated NFC smartphone standing next to you, this person could see the size and kind of shirt you are wearing if his smartphone comes really close to your chip.

Environment

By using the chip to reorder your item, many unnecessary exchange orders can be avoided. We think the advantages of embedding an NFC chip outweigh the disadvantages. However, what is best for the environment is underwear which can be worn over a long time so that it needs to be replaced less often. That is what ALBERT KREUZ stands for: high, long-lasting quality.

I don't want the chip.

Just cut off the tag with the chip from the clothing. Your customer rights regarding exchange and claims will not be limited.
